The Benefits Of Online Document Management

At Shumaker Tech we tend to favor Content Central for online document management, but what does that mean to you? Sure I can recommend the program, but I could also recommend a specific golf club or ballet slippers. That doesn’t help you if the topic is not a concern for you. That being said I would like to take a moment to direct you to a page I recently published on Squidoo which elaborates on How Online Document Management Can Improve Your Business

Web Portfolio – A Deeper Look into Two Shumaker Clients

The Website Development arm of the Shumaker Technology Group has designed numerous websites for many different clients according to their specific needs and desires.  We do our best to integrate the summation of our abilities in every new site and are constantly learning how to do more to both go back and improve upon our portfolio of previous works, as well as to expand the number of services we are capable of offering.  What follows are a couple of websites the Shumaker Group has developed to meet a variety of different needs.

GLC – Great Lakes Center

An excerpt from the Great Lakes Center website: The mission of the Great Lakes Center for Education Research and Practice is to support and disseminate high quality research and reviews of research for the purpose of informing education policy and to develop research-based resources for use by those who advocate for education reform.

The GLC is an organization that periodically reviews and releases research based reports regarding techniques and practices in teaching and learning.  They needed a highly searchable and easy to subscribe to base for their members in order to efficiently and easily distribute information.  If you were to visit the website at www.greatlakescenter.org, you will be able to see that it is very easy and intuitive to search the site for articles you are looking for, and simple to subscribe to one of their weekly releases, like Worth A Read.  All of their mailing systems and cataloging are handled through an administrative back end and are distributed using a database of emails that have signed up for their service.

ICAP – Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals

The Illinois Coalition of Appraisal Professionals wanted a central location where their membership could quickly and painlessly renew their memberships online, as well as distribute news postings and information about their yearly seminars, which anyone can sign up and pay for online.  Using an emailing system like that found with the Great Lakes Center, using a database of member emails and information, keeping track of membership is easy and painless, sending out newsletters takes only a few clicks of the mouse, and members are routinely reminded either by a message on their profile through the site, or via email, how close to expiration their membership is. Using integration with MyVirtualMerchant, payments can be completed and tracked online, in order to easily and efficiently maintain financial records.

These clients had some shared, and some unique needs, which were met to the fullest degree by the processes and workflow that The Shumaker Group enacted on their websites.  No longer do you need to pay for postage if you need to get a message out to your members, and if they are late on a payment,  you know, and the process to renew has never been easier.  The Shumaker Technology Group prides itself on its ability to adapt to a clients needs and to do everything in their power not only to meet the expectations of their clientele, but to exceed them.

Modern Marketing Makeover

After all their work towards keeping clients up to date, Shumaker Tech has made a full sweep through its own marketing materials and gave the company a modern makeover.

Nearly all of the old flyers, brochures, signs, business cards, websites and promotional bits were discarded to make room for the new designs.

Jacob Burger, one of the web designers for the new site, said that “As a Web Development firm, we wanted to make sure our website would be a great example for our clients. We were going for more of a ‘cutting edge’ look.” In my entirely bias opinion, I think they did a great job. I’ve included a few before and after shots down below, but I highly recommend you visit the new site and form your own opinion.
